Located on the Nogoa River in Queensland’s beautiful Central Highlands Emerald is a rural town – boasting a Historic Railway Station, Lake Maraboon and Fairbairn Dam, sapphire gemfields, industrial, agricultural and mining industries, Botanical Gardens and unique National Park access.

A brief history
Central Highlands Science Centre has been involved in delivering informal STEAM education in the Central Highlands for more than twenty-five years. Boasting the title of the most remote science museum in Australia. Operating independent of government funds as a community-based, not-for-profit Queensland organisation. Facilitating community STEAM events, education expos & school holiday programs. Working with local partners and community groups to promote STEAM in the Central Highlands region and beyond; champion of STEAM education in regional Australia.
